Welcome aboard for the little Christmas cruise on the Main River, passing through the Christmasy Frankfurt city area. You are cordially invited to immerse yourself in the time of the famous son of Frankfurt, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. How did the great poet experience Christmas during his time in Frankfurt? What customs were there at that time, what was given as a present? What was the significance of the Christmas market?
All these questions are the subject of this cruise and are conveyed partly through Goethe quotes and partly through stories by other authors. The Christmas cruise is by no means planned as a strenuous "educational trip". Rather, it is a small, partly tongue-in-cheek haven of peace in a hectic and fast-moving time. Especially at Christmas you should have the opportunity to come to rest and dream a little while listening to poems, stories and festive music. You will quickly notice - Goethe was also a friend of the leisurely and the serene.
