It was an experiment that met with such great enthusiasm among visitors last year that it will be repeated this year: The "Christmas Magic" at the Liebieghaus! The beautiful, idyllic Christmas market in the picturesque garden of the sculpture collection and the appealing supporting programme in the museum itself will once again ensure four atmospheric days on the Museumsufer. Visitors can expect even more individual handicrafts at the stalls and a Christmas programme for young and old at the second edition. The garden seems to be just made for such an event. When you see the atmospherically decorated stalls and the glow of lights here, terms like "fairytale" or "enchanting" immediately come to mind. The whole garden sparkles in a festive glow of lights, hand-picked vendors of specially designed, regional crafts and homemade food and drinks present themselves in wooden stalls decorated for Christmas. But the "Christmas magic" is not limited to the garden: the accompanying guided tour program in the museum, which also features the Liebieghaus curators guiding visitors through the collection, revolves around the Christmas story. Among other things, it deals with the ancient sources of the great religions, similarities with the Jewish tradition, or the Christmas story in the Koran. The origins of Christian culture and also the Christmas story can be connected in an exciting way with important exhibits of the collection as well as with other traditions by means of the accompanying programme. Workshops for children will introduce the characters of the Christian Christmas story in more detail. Other highlights of the "Christmas Magic" are a small nostalgic children's carousel, a Christmas puppet theatre, the performance of the choir of the Schillerschule Frankfurt, the screening of a Christmas film for the whole family and exciting short tours of the highlights of the collection. Saint Nicholas will also pay a visit and give away small gifts. In a creative workshop, young visitors can make nativity figures out of clay. Under the professional guidance of a master wood turner, they can also try their hand at working with wood and make their own small works of art from this material. In this unique way, knowledge is imparted, the spirit of discovery is encouraged, and an inspiring Christmas experience is created for all visitors. The "Christmas Magic" will open on Thursday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m. with a festive concert in the garden of the Liebieghaus. The approximately 20 stalls in the Liebieghaus Garden will be open throughout the "Christmas Magic", as will the recently reopened Café in the Liebieghaus. The stalls offer culinary delights including crèpes, waffles, wild bratwurst, soups and mulled wine. Arts and crafts booths will showcase gift items such as wooden children's toys, home-sewn items, a chocolate studio, homemade jams, honey from a beekeeper, cakes in jars, gift cards and handmade paper objects. An overall sensory experience will also be provided by Christmas music and a large Christmas tree on the garden terrace, decorated in advance by children. The Café in the Liebieghaus is also dressing up for Christmas and expanding its range to include mulled wine and home-baked cookies. As a Christmas gift from the Liebieghaus, during the period of the "Christmas Magic" an entrance fee of only 5 euros applies for visiting the Christmas market and the collection together (the family ticket costs 10 euros). The Café-visit is during this time only including the total admission price of 5 euros possible. Opening hours: Thu, Fri: 16.00 - 21.00 Sa, Sun 11.00 - 21.00 Uhr Admission: 5 Euro (Christmas market plus sculpture collection), Family ticket: 10 Euro
