Christoph Sieber is the 2015 winner of the German Cabaret Prize in the cabaret category, which is considered the most important award in the German-speaking world.
The native Swabian presents with "Hoffnungslos optimistisch" his fifth solo program and demonstrates how cabaret can inspire today.
He focuses no longer on the puppets of the Berlin puppet theater, but much more on the string pullers and lobbyists in the background. With great passion and a good portion of indignation, one plays here against the existing conditions and inspires his audience.
Also as a regular guest in cabaret shows on television, such as "Neues aus der Anstalt" (ZDF), "Satire Gipfel" (ARD), "Mitternachtsspitzen" (WDR), "Volker Pispers & Gäste" (3sat) and others, he has become a fixture on the German cabaret scene.
Sieber's texts have matured and one senses in every minute of this two-hour evening that the punchlines are not an end in themselves, but that he is concerned with telling and presenting something that he has observed and analysed very carefully.
Through his unique range of stylistic and textual finesse, he succeeds seemingly effortlessly in sweeping the audience along and surprising them again and again.
Life is an imposition. But with Christoph Sieber, this imposition is simply easier to bear.
The likeable cabaret artist of the next generation offers under the auspicious title: "Hopnungslos optimistisch" a great cabaret evening, a cabaret round of the extra class for young and old. "Christoph Sieber is the voice of young cabaret", according to the jury of the German Cabaret Prize.
