(D, 2017, 92 min, OmU, R: R. Caduff & S. Plank) - 83rd part of the film series at the MURNAU FILMTHEATER.
Konrad "Conny" Plank (1940-1987) was one of the most important sound designers and music producers of his time. A pioneer of Krautrock and trailblazer of electronically influenced pop music. Bands and artists like Kraftwerk, NEU!, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Ideal, Ultravox and the Eurythmics recorded with him and still emphasize the influence he had on their music. Without Plank, Gianna Nannini would probably have sung in English forever; and if a certain Bono had been more sympathetic to him, "Joshua Tree" would sound very different today. When Conny died at the age of only 47, his son Stephan was just 13 years old. 25 years later, he and co-director Reto Caduff set out to find the man he often only experienced behind the mixing desk as a child.
