With their 2013 debut "The Great Escape", Claire, formed just a year earlier, established themselves as one of the most exciting newcomer formations within the European music landscape. With "Tides" they present their highly anticipated sophomore album in 2017, on which the band around singer Josie-Claire Bürkle presents itself as multifaceted and varied as never before. "Tides" combines dance floor with head cinema: Content-wise, the Munich electro-pop quintet tells of an emotional relationship between two people who are almost magically attracted to each other - and sometimes repel each other again. Musically, Claire turned away from laptops this time, preferring instead to devote themselves to organic analogue sound. "We dared to do much more than on our first album", says keyboardist Matthias Hauck. Also, for the first time, Claire worked with an outside producer, putting themselves in the golden hands of Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, Florence & The Machine, Scissor Sisters). "Although he only joined during the ongoing work on the new album, Dave contributed enormously", continues guitarist Florian Kiermaier. The result is a tracklist in which clubby tracks alternate with spherical moments. Whether epic and indulgent, as on the first single "End Up Here", or driving and danceable, as on the club-oriented "Friendly Fire", Claire have created a dramatic sound aesthetic with "Tides", somewhere between stormy dance tunes and score-like head-cinema pop with, in places, unfamiliar noisy shoegaze elements, over which float the sometimes soulful, sometimes sexy, demanding vocals of Josie-Claire Bürkle. The striking mix is further lightened by experimental tracks like the funky earworm "Masquerade", the weightlessly flowing house tune "Drowning" or the exotically surreal "The Crash", in which Claire fulfilled a long-held wish and worked with a small children's choir. An emotional tidal shift with addictiveness. Text source and more information about this event: https://zoomfrankfurt.com/
