"Cock... Who's There?" is both documentary and performance.A young, attractive woman takes the stage, confidently relaxed, almost carefree. Behind her a large screen.The story she tells begins with a rape. It becomes the starting point of a project somewhere between self-imposed confrontation therapy and cinematic experiment. Through online platforms, Samira Elagoz arranged to meet a wide variety of men, and she records the encounters.
Through the camera's gaze, she explores her own impact and the mechanisms of attraction and assault, sexuality and violence. The audience witnesses a self-experiment: sometimes delicately poetic, shockingly vulnerable or rebelliously combative. With impressive aesthetic power and cunning charm, Samira Elagoz gives her audience insight into an honest examination of the meaning of intimacy and gender relations in the digital age.
