BETWEEN the BARS
For a good three weeks in November and December Jan Plewka toured again with Selig through the big German clubs to present the new album "Kashmir Karma". And although the psychedelic rockers were enthusiastically celebrated, this is no reason for their singer to do without the small, fine concerts in the duo with his guitarist friend Marco Schmedtje in the future. Because they guarantee an incomparable closeness to the audience, which the musicians do not want to miss.
The joint program of the friends is called "Between The Bars" and there Jan Plewka and Marco Schmedtje succeed with two voices and a guitar the previously perhaps not believed possible feat, a coherent evening with stripped-to-the-bone interpretations of Ton Steine Scherben-, Rio Reiser- and Simon & Garfunkel songs. And the whole thing with significant audience participation, who get to play "random number generator" by pulling slips of paper out of Plewka's hat with the individual titles written on them. In this way the fans ensure an ever exciting, ever new sequence, charmingly moderated by the "lot fairy" Plewka. More and more Plewka & Schmedtje's own songs are heard, from their solo albums as well as from their time together as Zinoba. Twelve of them have been compiled by the two in the meantime, which - quite old school - are available on music cassette along with a download code.
