The impostor and trickster Felix Krull lies, deceives and smiles his way through life.
He tricks his way through military muster, gives absolution of seduction as a false priest, conducts his atonal works as a master of new music, sells his abstract brushstrokes for £3000 a blob as an art painter, sells securities of no value, and swears oaths of no meaning.
He does not rob banks, he creates banks. As artist, consul, and banker, he relieves lords of their fortunes and respectable ladies of their innocence. He deceives, seduces, and disguises himself until at last he becomes entangled in the clutches of his own game.
A cosmos of lickspittles, turncoats, and oppurtunists dance around him in a grotesque round dance. A play full of pretence and double bottom, full of painted scenery, dazzle, pretence and deception, a little bit frivolous, spicy now and then, but told from the purest heart, brief and concise, as requested, the Confessions of the impostor Felix Krull.
A comedy about the ambiguity of the human condition.
