The distinctive band sound of the jazz trio "Das Grüne Hemd", classically staffed with guitar, bass and drums, allows different styles to merge and grow together: Afro-Beat, House, Postrock, Wildstyle-Funk, Abstract and Jazz. The three musicians present some of their own music and play pieces by Kenny Burrell, Billy Cobham, Grant Green, Thelonious Monk, Wes Montgomery, Steve Swallow and others - All this in a unique flow you have to hear!
In the context of the exhibition, the New York underground club scene of the 1970s and 1980s is celebrating a revival: every Thursday evening from 7 pm, the Crown Club opens its doors at the Schirn. Talks, parties, film screenings, and concerts will take place in a partly stylish and newly interpreted club atmosphere of the legendary Mudd Club. The original Mudd Club was a place where the creative scene of Lower Manhattan met, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, musicians and bands like Madonna, Lou Reed, DNA or the Talking Heads, designers and performers like Betsey Johnson and Klaus Nomi or young independent filmmakers like Glenn O'Brien. What Basquiat needed for his artistic works, he took from his environment. He sampled what surrounded him and what he surrounded himself with.
