Passion and Time
Strong personalities have always inspired him, whether Jimi Hendrix or Sonny Rollins. Daniel Guggenheim has to feel them and asks himself every time anew: What does their music tell me? Even while studying at the Swiss Jazz School, he led his own quartet and interpreted John Coltrane according to his vision. In 1983 he met Hermeto Pascoal in Brazil, a real stroke of luck for him. Through Pascoal, Guggenheim learns to live his music and to keep pushing boundaries.
Whether Paris, New York or Frankfurt, where he has since settled: Daniel Guggenheim's music always creates new images that become an all-encompassing experience for everyone involved. He has played with Elvin Jones, Cecil McBee, Richie Beirach, Billy Hart, Bob Degen, Vitold Rek, Keith Copeland, Janusz Stefanski, David Liebman, Peter Madsen, Jeff Williams, Jürgen Wuchner, John Tchicai and Harry Becket, among others.
