"Heiner and Heinerin cheer happily. On the first weekend in July, it's that time again: every year, several hundred thousand visitors from near and far follow the call "Come one, come all!" to indulge in the cheerful goings-on in the city centre around the castle. An attractive Heinerfest ticket also brings people from the surrounding area quickly and cheaply to the festival area, where carousels and culinary delights from all over the world entice.
The wine lovers will be pleased, in addition to the popular wine village on the castle bastion, there is also an idyllic wine garden on the old city wall. On the other hand, the Festhalle Hausmann on the Karolinenplatz has a large beer garden ready for the thirsty Heiner. More than 200 showmen travel from all over Germany, including many spectacular rides such as "Konga" and "Ghost Rider".

While the big Heiners have fun at the popular HeinerTreff on the east side of the moat, the little Heiners can play to their hearts' content at the nostalgic Heinerfest children's festival on the west side.
Street theatre and film screenings are just as much a part of the varied Heinerfest cultural programme as a wide range of sports.
The crowning glory of Darmstadt's popular Heinerfest will once again be the grand Merck fireworks display on Monday evening from the roof of the darmstadtium at the 67th Heinerfest.
