"Maybe it's cheesy sometimes, but we stand by it." Ali Baltz,Augustin Zimmerand Martin Brunner confessed unapologetically in the digital music magazine about their songs about love. They have been singing in German for four years now and are called Das Moped. They can say that with impunity, after all, their reputation precedes them as belonging to the rare breed of German-language bands who can tackle pop music's biggest topic without drowning in the mire of floskels or self-pity. The quintessentially desperate "Alle wollen Liebe," for example, is a quirky, danceable hit that sounds like a bunch of NDW survivors, Echt and Wanda got together to jam, while another song, "Geist," could be something like Death Cab For Cutie in German.
Melancholic, dreamy, anthemic to sing along to, also sinking swaying along to hysterically dancing outbursts of movement - the trio stands for all that, managing to come across as honest and mysterious at the same time.
