A furious comedy about the business of literature
Books can change lives. Those of the readers, but especially those involved in their creation and success. Bestselling French author and director David Foenkinos has experienced these forces himself and tells of them. His novel "The Secret Life of Monsieur Pick", just published by Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, turns living and dead authors, an editor, a critic, publishers, readers and the relatives of a deceased pizza chef from Brittany into protagonists. A smart, rousing, multi-layered satire on the beloved business of books. And this in the year when France is at the centre of attention - literarily and politically, as the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair and for the presidential election. The conversation in German and French will be led by Lena Bopp from the F.A.Z. The translation will be read by Frankfurt actor, director and speaker Stéphane Bittoun.
