De Staat are one of the most exciting rock formations from the Netherlands. Originally a one-man project, it evolves into a guitar-driven rock band that polarizes with visually striking videos and has developed a distinctively unique sound in the alternative rock genre. In 2009 they are discovered by Masters Of Reality boss and producer Chris Goss at the 'Lowlands' festival, leading to a worldwide record deal with Mascot Records and five studio albums and one live album to date. With their virtual hit "Witch Doctor" from the 2013 opus "I_CON", usually the closing song of a De Staat concert, the quintet from Nijmegen now even moves almost into cult status regions.
They introduced themselves to a larger audience in 2016 when they supported British superstars Muse on their "Drones" European tour at six stadium concerts. It's not only because of this that De Staat have now gained a reputation as one of the biggest Dutch hopes in rock. After the release of their fifth album "O" in January 2016, they were showered with awards and great reviews, including the prestigious "3voor12 Award" in their home country in the category "Album of the Year".
De Staat is thus the only Dutch formation to have received this award for the second time. Their genre-bending sound mix paired with impressive live qualities is greeted by fans and media alike.
