Depeche Mode, one of the most influential and defining bands in modern music, have announced their 2017 world tour in Milan. Their new studio album Spirit will be released in Spring 2017, and the Global Spirit Tour will offer loyal and new fans alike the opportunity to experience groundbreaking and emotionally-charged shows from the band. In Germany, Depeche Mode will perform in Leipzig, Cologne, Munich, Hanover, Frankfurt, Berlin and Gelsenkirchen between May 27 and July 4. In Switzerland, the tour schedule includes an open-air in Zurich on June 18. On the first leg of the Global Spirit Tour, Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher will perform for more than 1.5 million fans in 32 cities and 21 countries across Europe. The concert tour will include legendary open-air arenas such as the Stade de France in Paris, San Siro in Milan and the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Following Europe, the Global Spirit Tour, the 18th in the band's career, will continue in North and South America. It will be the first time Depeche Mode have performed live in more than three years. On the previous, completely sold-out Delta Machine Tour, Depeche Mode thrilled more than 2.5 million followers around the world. It was one of the biggest and most successful tours ever. For the Global Spirit Tour, Depeche Mode continue their charity partnership with Swiss watchmaker Hublot to jointly raise awareness and funds for the charity project "Charity: Water". The mission aims to provide clean drinking water to people around the world. Spirit is the 14th studio album from the music pioneers and the follow-up to their critically acclaimed CD Delta Machine, which reached the Top 5 in 26 countries and No. 1 on the charts in 12 countries. Spirit is produced by James Ford, founding member of the band Simian Mobile Disco, whose recent output includes albums by Florence and the Machine and the Arctic Monkeys. Spirit will be released worldwide by Columbia Records in early 2017. At a press event in Milan, Dave Gahan noted, "We are exceptionally proud of the sound and energy of Spirit. We're very enthusiastic about going on tour again and sharing that special feeling with our fans around the world." Despite selling 100 million albums and performing live to over 30 million fans around the world, Depeche Mode have continued to reinvent themselves without giving away their originality. Numerous artists and bands cite Depeche Mode as their inspiration. Critics continue to hail them as "groundbreaking," "leading the way," and "gaining prominence." With the Global Spirit Tour and new album, Depeche Mode continue on a consistent path that is a story of musical innovation and unwavering appeal. (Text: Live Nation)
