Dinosaur Pile-Up formed in 2007 from the remains of Matt Bigland's previous band Mother Vulpine. The name comes from a scene in Peter Jackson's 2005 'King Kong' remake starring Naomie Watts, Jack Black and Adrien Brody. After three praised EPs, they are invited to the newcomer stage of the 'Leeds' festival in 2009 and shortly after on the European tour of the reformed Pixies. Due to various line-up changes, Bigland record debut 'Growing Pains' entirely on their own in a Birlington studio over the course of almost three months. With bassist Harry Johns and drummer Mike Sheils they go on tour, playing in the UK and even Mexico, supporting genre greats like Feeder, Cage The Elephant, Turbowolf and Twin Atlantic.
With Jim Cratchley on bass and proven drummer Mike Sheils, the current line-up is found then, the third album "Eleven Eleven" is recorded at Rockfields Studios in Wales. The work there with top producer Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Turbowolf) makes it clear how serious Dinosaur Pile-Up are about their third opus. If their career were a Quentin Tarantino movie, they'd be on the verge of hurting someone right now. Because on this album, Dinosaur Pile-Up act harder, faster and stronger than ever before. With their third record and a darker, more intense sound that suggests comparisons to bands like Quicksand, Helmet, Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana, Dinosaur Pile-Up deliver their most mature and best work to date, with which they will surely be able to establish themselves alongside the rock greats of their homeland and beyond. Because the musical prerequisites are given: In addition to alternative rock influences like the Foo Fighters, Weezer (with whom they played in April 2016), Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins and Pavement, they also include the Sixties with the Beach Boys and the Beatles, as well as metal bands like Slayer and the Deftones.
