World formula just a beautiful myth?
For the first time, an exhibition now gets to the bottom of the phenomenon from different perspectives. Multimedia and interactive, "Göttlich Golden Genial. World Formula Golden Section?" explores fascinating worlds of form and critically questions the history as well as the applications of the golden section. From its geometric foundations to the Fibonacci sequence, considered nature's growth pattern, to Le Corbusier's Modulor proportion system, more than 250 objects from architecture, art, design, nature, and music demonstrate how the "divine division" functions in a wide variety of creation processes.
The fact that our visual habits are also shaped by standardizations is illustrated by alternative formats such as the modern DIN or Japanese tatami measure.
In search of the golden ratio, visitors analyze exhibits with a golden stencil, holographically compare their own facial features with golden proportions, puzzle golden surfaces, and play golden music on the Gorschel. Finally, they immerse themselves in a virtual reality consistently designed according to the rules of the golden section. Whether this can deliver on the promise of aesthetic perfection?
