A satirical review of the year: If you're driving forward, you shouldn't forget to look backward. You learn that in your first driving lesson. So what's appropriate in the spatial dimension can't be bad for the temporal dimension. And so the past year richly deserves its own rear-view mirror!
Because 2019 was a year full of surprising twists and turns: Europe's politicians shifting all the blame to Greta. Angela Merkel shoves Ursula von der Leyen off to Brussels on the Gorch Fock. Whereupon Greta proves that intercontinental flights are also feasible by boat. Which leads to the assumption that when it comes to climate, the glass (and not the boat!) is half-full instead of half-empty, as long as schools are half-empty instead of half-full on Fridays.
For the German government, on the other hand, 2019 brought plenty of elections in the East and agonies in the West. Which prompted CDU leader Kramp-Karrenbauer to set up the security zone in Thuringia rather than Syria. The SPD wanted to look for the new head of the party quite fairly across the board. The minus interest rates of the ECB made themselves felt in the points balance of the FC Bayern. Therefore, the SPD applied for Bayern coach Kovač the basic pension without means test.
Thanks to car tolls, transport Minister Scheuer got violently into the rudder, although he could have taken the plane at any time. And in Ahlen, a pug was impounded. The rearview mirror 2019 is therefore a must for all who have understood: Standstill has never been so racy!
