Pure tension is announced when the German national team on Saturday, June 23, at 20 clock in the Olympic Stadium in Sochi against the team from Sweden. By then, the 2018 World Cup in Russia will already be ten days old. To qualify for the next round, every game matters for the teams. And often on a surprising double pass, which can become game-changing.
3 1/2 hours before the start of the game, the churches invite you to an ecumenical double pass at 5.30 pm in Frankfurt's Commerzbank Arena. Church President Dr. Volker Jung from the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau and Prelate Michael Metzler from the leadership of the Diocese of Limburg will play liturgically the balls to each other in an ecumenical service, supported by a sports-mad German-Swedish (theologian) team. And the trampoline team of the "Flying Bananas" and the Frankfurt band Habakuk around stadium pastor Eugen Eckert with spiritual pop and rock music will guarantee a lot of momentum. Music by ABBA and the hymn "You'll never walk alone" are part of the programme.
The idea of combining public viewing with an ecumenical church service already came six years ago from Patrik Meyer, Managing Director of Stadion Frankfurt Management GmbH (SFM). His impetus was enthusiastically received by the Protestant and Catholic churches and turned into a double pass.
A whole lot of fun is guaranteed for those who make their way to the stadium on June 23. Together with thousands of fans you will experience an extraordinary evening: The ecumenical church service from 17.30-18.30 o'clock forms the beginning. This will be followed by a pre-programme on stage with presenters Daniel Fischer and Felix Möse from Radio FFH and, from 8 p.m., the live broadcast of the match on the 400-square-metre screen.
