"Let's Groove", "Shining Star", "Boogie Wonderland", "September", "After The Love Has Gone" are just a few of the many hits Earth, Wind & Fire will play on their first German tour after a five-year absence. The formation around founding member Verdine White (bass, percussion, vocals) and Ralph Johnson (vocals, drums, percussion) as well as the style-defining falsetto singer Philip Bailey (kalimba, conga, percussion), who have been part of it since 1972, will travel in a large line-up. With twelve members (including a horn trio), the original will impressively prove its reputation as a live sensation. Their sound, a grooving mixture of soul, funk, jazz, R'n'B, African sounds and pop melodies, is absolutely timeless. No wonder that currently hot musicians like Beyonce, Kanye West, Usher or Kendrick Lamar are self-confessed fans of Earth, Wind & Fire.
By the way, the current line-up with White, Johnson and Bailey also represents the most successful version of the "funk-fusion powerhouse" ('Rolling Stone')! All three of them contributed to the numerous hits and therefore played a major role in the fact that EW&F sold more than 100 million records worldwide and won nine Grammys. Fact: This combo are the one and only, true Earth, Wind & Fire! Since 1969, their name has been synonymous with guaranteed sweaty shows unlike any other. Their performances are by no means mere concerts, but rather enveloping parties live on stage that immediately sweep the audience away. There is dancing from the first minute on, because with this sound nobody stays still. Even the musicians on stage are in motion almost non-stop thanks to a well-rehearsed choreography. The songs? All classics, still heard on the radio every day! No wonder that the fans sing along loudly: After all, almost everyone who comes to this event knows the lyrics with their positive messages inside out: "Sing A Song", "Let Your Feelings Show", "Serpentine Fire", the popular Beatles cover "Got To Get You Into My Life", "That's Way Of The World", "Reasons", "Fantasy" or "In The Stone" are presented as brilliant live versions. This even inspires a world star like Alicia "Girl On Fire" Keys. She stated succinctly, "Earth, Wind & Fire are the best band ever!"
