"East meets West" is a love story portrayed through solo singing, dance, choir and other art forms. Artist Xia Ye-Horn created this piece using songs from Broadway musicals and operas as well as classical Chinese art songs. The Rhine-Main German-Chinese Community Music Theater, recently founded by Xia Ye-Horn, performs this show.
Chinese singer Xia Ye gave a solo concert of classical Chinese art and folk songs in our country in March 2018. Xia Ye, born in Zhejiang, studied Chinese folk music at Shanghai Conservatory of Music after her musical education at Hangzhou College and Fujian Normal College. She began her professional career as a solo singer in the Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Group. While in the United States, she was active in the overseas Chinese community as one of the most popular Chinese singers. She thrilled audiences at the Asian Cultural Festival and other performances. Since 2015, Xia Ye has been living in Germany and continues her commitment to Chinese culture here as well. She not only wants to appeal to the Chinese community, but also bring Chinese folk music closer to Western audiences.
