On Wednesday, August 31, Alex Meier presents himself once again on the big soccer stage. Kick-off in the Deutsche Bank Park is at 7 pm. Tickets have been available since July 20. In the context of the game, Eintracht Frankfurt invites to the family festival.

It was a shutout made to measure when Alexander Meier scored in his last home game as a professional of Eintracht Frankfurt on May 5, 2018, less than four minutes after his substitution for the 3-0 final score at home against Hamburger SV. It was the last of 137 goals the former captain scored alongside 55 assists in 379 games with the eagle on his chest. The coronation followed two weeks later with the DFB Cup victory, when David Abraham gave him the lead at the award ceremony.

After stints at FC St. Pauli and Sydney FC, the crowd favorite with the pigtail hung up his soccer boots for good in January 2020. An official farewell to the current brand ambassador and U21 co-coach, who has also been chasing goals for the traditional team for a few weeks, has since been a long time coming, also due to Corona. This wait now has an end.

On Wednesday, August 31, the 39-year-old Bundesligatorschützenkönig of 2015 receives the stage befitting him. Starting at 7 p.m., the big farewell match with selected companions of the Hamburg native, who has been an active player on the Main for more than 14 years since 2004, will take place at Deutsche Bank Park under the direction of former referee Manuel Gräfe. Among others, ex-captains David Abraham and Ioannis Amanatidis, legends Anthony Yeboah and Uwe Bein as well as Europa League winners Sebastian Rode, Kevin Trapp and Martin Hinteregger have announced their presence. On the sidelines, the two teams will be coached by former Eintracht coaches Armin Veh and Friedhelm Funkel.

Already before the game, a family festival with a colorful supporting program will take place at Deutsche Bank Park. The stadium gates open at 4 p.m., in the run-up to the match the professional team will present itself.

The ticket pre-sale began on Wednesday, July 20. Tickets are available at a price between 5 and 20 euros, depending on the category. The proceeds will go to charitable causes. Season ticket subscribers will receive advance purchase rights according to the number of their season tickets from 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, until 10 a.m. Friday, July 22. Members can purchase tickets from 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, through 10 a.m. Monday, July 25. The free sale starts on Monday, July 25, 10 am.

EintrachtTV and SPORT1 will broadcast the match live.
