With her band Elaiza, Elżbieta "Ela" Steinmetz and her colleagues Yvonne Grünwald and Natalie Plöger prevailed over mega-popular chart-toppers Unheilig in the final of "Our Song for Denmark" in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne in March 2014. At the "European Song Contest" in Copenhagen, however, it was only enough for 18th place among 26 participants.They combined Eastern European folk with modern pop melodies.
Ela's Polish mother was a studied opera and jazz singer, her Ukrainian father was a guitarist in a rock band, according to Wikipedia. That shaped. Melodie & Rhythm magazine said of the trio's style: "The cabaret moments of the Dresden Dolls and the snap-along circus of fellow Norwegians Katzenjammer meet the swaggering swing of a Caro Emerald." As a songwriter, Ela has since worked with and for a wide variety of artists.

She stands for a fresh urban pop sound with intelligent, German lyrics and the perfect symbiosis of synthetic effects and organic sounds. Diversity is the essence of life. And so, in her solo debut, Ela demonstrates musical and thematic explorations of the sometimes inescapable difficulties, but also the beautiful sides of life. "Honestly Complicated" is the name of her single as a precursor to the album "Love & War," due out in 2020.
