Tens of thousands of rose bushes blossom every year in late spring throughout Eltville. 350 different varieties of the queen of flowers are at home here and the town of Eltville with its romantic electoral castle and the winding old town on the banks of the Rhine is then always transformed into a breathtaking sea of blossoms with rushing colors and scents.
All this and much more is the focus of the Eltville Rose Days, which take place every year on the first weekend in June in the champagne and rose city. As varied as the rose splendor in the gardens of the castle and on the Rhine is on the colorful festival program, which are offered around the queen of flowers. The tradesmen offer specialties, food and delicious delicacies around the rose on the open weekend. These range from rose oils, rose cocktails and perfumes to jellies, specialist literature about the rose and the "Eltviller Rosentörtchen". The entire old town turns into a huge fairground with tables and benches to linger and feast.
In addition, street artists with music, juggling and magic arts drive funny mischief and at stalls there is much to marvel at and look at. On a large festival stage in the city center there are live music acts and for the young guests theater performances. Particularly popular is also the large plant market in the historic castle courtyard and the matching art exhibitions in the gallery in the castle tower.
In addition, the guides and city gardeners invite you to guided tours through the old town and the rose gardens and present many historic rose species and rarities. The Eltville Rose Days are organized by the Interessengemeinschaft der Eltviller Gewerbetreibenden (IGE) together with the magistrate of the town of Eltville am Rhein.
