Music cabaret artist Marco Tschirpke presents poems and songs in a predominantly comic manner.
Larded with references to art and history, an evening with the winner of the German Cabaret Prize 2018 means above all an intellectual pleasure. Whether poem or piano song - comedian Marco Tschirpke knows how to keep it short.
How he mixes today with yesterday and the high with the low is so outrageously lustful and entertaining that his audience often can't get enough of it. And there's no shortage of kitchen lyricism either: "Fondue - that means: at round tables / fishing communally in the doldrums."
That Tschirpke is at the same time considered one of the craftiest pianists in his field, he owes to a joy of playing that often tempts him to breakneck maneuvers.
His latest book of poems "Frühling, Sommer, Herbst und Günther" (2015) became a Spiegel bestseller. "If Heinz Erhardt is too naively childish, Robert Gernhardt too apolitical, and Goethe too long-eared, you won't find an alternative in Marco Tschirpke either." (Harry Rowohlt)
