If you mention the name John Schröder in the Frankfurt jazz scene, most people involuntarily think of the "Frankfurt guitar prodigy", who caused a sensation from the late 70s onwards with unprecedented virtuosity and a skill on the instrument that could rival stars like John Scofield and Pat Metheny; who played on Chet Baker's last record; who recorded the first disc of his own when he was not yet 20 and impressed listeners with an immense maturity and high level of musicianship despite his young age.
But that's not all, he also reached the same level as on the guitar as a drummer, helping to form one of the most important avant-garde jazz bands of the 90s with the band "Der rote Bereich" and shaping a new way of doing jazz. Now John Schröder visits his hometown and the "Fabrik Frankfurt" is proud to host the congenial trio.
John Schröder, Ludwig Hornung and Wanja Slavin form the "Triebwerk Hornung" with the unique combination of drums, Fender Rhodes and saxophone. Whose ambition is to always achieve a high level of energy, variety and density, which is supported, respectively forced, by the intimate line-up.
