In FIGURA, five musicians from the Ensemble Modern present a broad spectrum of 20th and 21st century works in performative solo pieces: small pieces, some of them highly virtuosic, and miniatures between acoustic and electronic sound production. The works range from "classics" of modern music such as Bernd Alois Zimmermann's "Four Short Studies for Violoncello" to solo works by John Adams and Matthias Pintscher to the latest works by Klaus Burger or Orm Finnendahl, all of which explore the most diverse expressive possibilities of the instruments. In this way, the performances of the Ensemble Modern soloists open up many perspectives on the different varieties of contemporary music and its development.
