Erin K is Erin Kleh. It was only a few years ago that the American, based mostly in London since childhood, picked up a guitar and began writing autobiographical songs - earning her a lasting reputation in London's anti-folk scene. Light-heartedly laconic, witty and soulful, Erin Kleh carries and cajoles her heartfelt words worth hearing into the mind and soul, while her voice beguiles the emotion, her lyrics delight the intellect.The highly stylistically varied song characteristics inspire even with purely acoustic enjoyment, because the breezy-light music melange of American and British folk, sometimes full-bodied in band line-up, sometimes intimately presented to the solo acoustic guitar, rousing pub rock and gorgeous pop always finds the direct way to the heart, not least because the soul-soft, breezy light dancing singer knows how to clothe the words in wonderful melodies.
And so, somewhere between campfire folk and wide-screen soul, between infectious boy-pop and brittle Sufjan Stevens filigree, a multicoloured, shimmering palette of songs unfolds, which owes its irresistibly seductive effect in the long run not least to this uniquely diverse voice, which sometimes sounds like Lily Allen on Country, sometimes like Amy McDonald with real melodies, sometimes dreamy like Maria Solheim, sometimes vulnerable-filigile like Rosie Thomas, can be compared most closely to the art and effect of a Thea Gilmore, but still unfolds its very own magic.
