With her films, sculptures, and printed editions, the Italian-German artist Rosa Barba (*1972) has created a conceptual oeuvre of poetic density over the past 15 years. In the work created especially for the SCHIRN's Rotunda, with which she responds to the specific conditions of the freely accessible public space, Barba combines the artistic media of film and sculpture. Inside the rotunda, she erects an expansive, 12-meter-high, geometrically nested steel construction made up of some 80 serial frame elements, which almost completely fills the entrance area of the SCHIRN. Rosa Barba uses the installation as a stage for a dynamic choreography of image, light and sound. In doing so, the artist draws on a selection of her own works, which can be seen here in a new interplay.
