The Historisches Museum is again offering guided tours. In smaller groups (please pay attention to the distance) and under special hygiene rules (wearing a mouth-nose protection is mandatory). Today you can discover the special exhibition "Dresses on the Move - Women's Fashion since 1850" with Alexandra Sajnikova. For this we go back to the 19th century: In the second half of the 19th century, class barriers fall, democratic forces challenge monarchies and new urban spaces develop. Women fight for access to education, politics and work. The transformation in women's fashion since 1850 is an expression of changing gender roles and living conditions in society.

This rich textile show uses photography, film, and interactive media to trace an arc from the cuts of dress to the fundamental aspects of women's mobility and movement. Clothes become present as an interface between everyday practices and political discourses.

The show's gaze ranges from 1850 to 1930 to the present day, encouraging reflection on the multiple functions of dress.
