The members of the quartet, founded in 1995 - all graduates of the Petrozavodsk Conservatory - understand each other at the blink of an eye and offer in their concerts an astonishing range of repertoire that goes far beyond the great tradition of Russian folk music. The ensemble's own enchanting arrangements bring neo-classical music by the Russian composer Alfred Schnittke to life, as well as tangos by Astor Piazzolla, swing by Django Reinhardt or pieces by Mozart, Rossini, Gawrilin, and film music by Maurice Jarres, for example. EXPROMPT impressively demonstrates what surprising possibilities a traditional instrument can offer when creativity, certainty of musical taste and the courage to explore new horizons are at work. It is therefore not surprising that this group has been awarded prestigious prizes at international music competitions, including the first prize of the Italian "Citta di Castelfidardo" and the "Iron Eversteiner" of the 17th Folk-Herbst Plauen.
