Rock / Punk / Neue Deutsche Welle Concert at KESSELHAUS
Few German bands have played their asses off like the eternal Extrabreit. Founded in 1978 as a proto-punk band, sold hundreds of thousands of records as NDW pioneers ("Wir haben den Scheiß halt mitgemacht", quote Extrabreit) and tireless in the years after. Extrabreit have a lot more to offer than this one song, which bears the same title as a 1969 German film comedy. Their '81 debut "Welch ein Land! - What men!" contains quite a few dark masterpieces that have lost none of their urgency. And also fit in quite nicely with the huge interest that the 80s have been experiencing again for years anyway. What remains to be noted? 1) Cops smoke mild strain, because life is hard enough as it is. 2) Horny time travel: The 82 concert recording we linked to. 3) Hagen is a wonderful city. 4) "Hurra, hurra die Schule brennt" behaves to Extrabreit like "Fred vom Jupiter" to Andreas Dorau.
