Here and now it comes to a summer rendezvous with four agile and in the field experienced musicians of the national and international jazz scene, all at home in Mainz.
The four (election) Mainz already know each other from the last millennium and played already in the 90s again and again in different fixed and loose formations, such as Chris Zimmer 5, the Kirk Penny Connection or the Jazzteam together. At that time Georg Boeßner and Chris Zimmer initiated the Jazz-Session in the ESG-Bar in Mainz, which is still active today.
Not only locally the musicians have already left quite a few traces, but also on the big wide market of music. The list of collaborations is long! Just to name a few: Gil Coggins, Cindy Blackman, Jay Oliver, Benny Bailey, Katja Ebstein, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Robert Palmer, Georg Ringsgwandl, Lars Reichow, etc.
The visitors and listeners of the Jazz Picnic can expect a colorful program of handpicked jazz, soul and R'n'B - gems, as well as the one or other original composition. All in all a colorful, entertaining program with high entertainment value! All are invited to an enjoyable feast for the ears and eyes under the motto "funky & dirty psychadelic grooves".
The line-up: Chris Zimmer (saxophone and flute), Georg Boeßner (rhodes), Jean-Philippe Wadle (bass) and David Meisenzahl (drums).
Around the music there is a colorful program in a family atmosphere with creative activities, many movement and skill games for BIG and small children, for young and old, disabled and non-disabled, which are fun and stimulate the imagination. You can try out the various creative and play stations and meet lots of children to play together.
There will be a chance to barbecue - so please bring barbecue food and drinks. Grills are available.
