For over 28 years, the Office for Youth and Family of the State Capital Mainz has organized the Family Jazz Picnics in Volkspark during the summer holidays as part of the holiday card.
Today's featured artists:
Everything and Band: The highly sought-after and versatile American soprano Deborah Cole meets jazz pianist Karl H. Nagel. Together they present their own exciting interpretations with pieces ranging from George Gershwin and Kurt Weill to Chick Corea.
The two musicians also place special emphasis on introducing lesser-known composers. These include Frank Sinatra's guitarist Ron Anthony, who - incidentally - has personally given the sheet music of his pieces to Deborah.
Deborah Cole began her career in America as a winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition. As a permanent ensemble member at the Osnabrück Municipal Stages and the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, she delighted audiences with her vocal as well as acting qualities in numerous opera, operetta and musical roles.
Around the music there is a colorful program in a family atmosphere with creative activities, many movement and skill games for large and small children, for young and old, which are fun and stimulate the imagination. You can try out the various creative and play stations, drive through a go-kart course and meet lots of children to play together.
