Hyvää Joulua!!!

Welcome to the Finnish Christmas Bazaar 2019 at the Dornbuschkirche in Frankfurt!

For many, Finland is considered the home of Santa Claus, or rather, the home of Santa Claus. In Finland, Christmas runs a little differently than we are used to in Germany. While we spend the morning of December 24 with the last hectic Christmas shopping and have to wait until the evening until it finally comes to the gift-giving, in Finland Christmas begins a little earlier. At 12 o'clock, Christmas peace is proclaimed throughout the country. This ritual, which has been an integral part of Finnish Christmas since the Middle Ages, is taken very seriously throughout the country and only then does the family head off to the first big Christmas meal together.

In the afternoon and early evening, the dead are commemorated in the cemeteries. Anyone who has seen the festively decorated Finnish cemeteries at Christmas will not soon forget this beautiful and impressive image.

Unlike in other countries, Santa Claus, who in Finland is called Joulupukki, does not come stealthily down the chimney, but visits the children personally to give them their presents. Also at the popular Finnish Christmas bazaar at the Dornbuschkirche Joulupukki comes from Finnish Lapland to Frankfurt to make the little ones happy.

There are also handicrafts, Finnish specialties, festive music and much more. A really nice, atmospheric Christmas bazaar, which year after year not only members of the Finnish community in Frankfurt enthusiastic.
