Fishbach caused a stir in France in 2017, and it looks like she will break through in the rest of the world in 2018. Born in the lakeside town of Dieppe, the chanteuse released debut album "À Ta Merci" in France in January 2017, where it received unanimous praise, and in November she took home the coveted award for Best Independent Debut of the Year (album révélation) at Le Prix des Indés. Even a cursory listen to "À Ta Merci" ("At Your Grace" in German) will tell you quite a bit about this extraordinary talent, though Fishbach absolutely must be seen live to be believed.
With her charismatic presence that is chic and androgynous, Flora keeps pushing the boundaries of theatricality with her distinctive smoky contra-alto voice and pompous stage attire. Musically, she brings together warm electropop with startlingly visible, dark lyrics, enigmatic and full of intrigue. "Le château" fuses the haunting and mysterious with one of the most addictive disco hooks in years, while lead single "Mortel" ("deadly") combines a sophisticated ambience with dark imagery, a baroque guitar line and a melody Abba would have gladly killed to add to their own canon. "Un autre que moi", on the other hand, references Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" era, with added fretless bass and slinky lyrics around a protagonist who is "slender as a panther in the smoke" ("Élancée comme une panthère dans la fumée").
