Sarsalé means flow or rhythm and feeling. The Catalan band creates a sound that combines the power of cante flamenco, typical flamenco singing, with rhythm and harmony. The result is music of the highest quality, which harmonizes perfectly with the expressive dancing of Violeta Barrio. The program includes classic palos (flamenco song types) such as "Soleá", "Fandango" and "Seguiriya". But Sarsalé also play their own modern compositions, inspired by the essence of pure flamenco. In Frankfurt, they now perform in the expanded musical line-up with cajón, flamenco guitar and electric bass guitar, after thrilling the ITF audience in front of a sold-out house in 2015.
The group was formed in Barcelona in 2006, during jam sessions in an artists' café. Since then, Sarsalé have performed there at venues including Sala Apolo, the La Mercè city festival, and a guitar festival at the Palau de la Música Catalana. Violeta Barrio, the dancer, received her training at the Conservatory of Dance of the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona with Belén Cabanes and Juan Carlos Lérida.
