Probably no other German alternative rock band can rely on such a strong sense for infectious songs as Flash Forward. The energy of Anberlin and the elegance of Dashboard Confessional can be found in the quartet's sound as well as the force of The Used.
After years on tour Flash Forward released "Revolt" on 24.11.2017 their new album on Uncle M Music (among others Boysetsfire, Anti-Flag) to present it in January 2018 on a German tour of the same name. Due to the huge success and sold-out home shows in Cologne and Oberhausen, Flash Forward will extend their "Revolt" tour by seven German cities in September 2018. The album marks a significant turning point in the band's history, offering a newfound profundity alongside their familiar, irresistible guitar riffs and rousing anthems: Flash Forward call for social change to which every individual has a contribution to make and pointedly criticize the constant, egotistical pursuit of self-optimization.
The guys from the Ruhr area know what they're talking about, because they themselves haven't missed an opportunity for many years to work non-stop for the band, to stay persistent and to work themselves up for their own success - which as a young band also means that wrong decisions are inevitable. Although Flash Forward have already scored points with their breakneck live show and charm at Big Day Out, Bochum Total, Traumzeit Festival or the Green Juice Festival and also enchanted many blogs and magazines ("their outstanding mixture of Billy Talent, Simple Plan, 30 Seconds To Mars as well as Bring Me The Horizon is unique in the German area" - The Pick Magazine), the incessant race in the band's own hamster wheel ultimately resulted in the mixed album "Who We Are" (2016). At the end of a power-sapping creation process, the band couldn't fully meet the expectations of their fans and themselves. What to do? All over again? No: All over again! With a new team and fresh impulses, Flash Forward re-positioned themselves in 2017 and recalled their true talents: a songwriting whose signature includes a certain international touch, a production whose force is able to stand up to their American idols and, last but not least, the courage to be open to new elements and influences at the right moment . "What might feel like a step backwards was more of a moment of pause for us: we started to focus even more on ourselves in the winter and almost adopted a wagon train mentality," frontman Stefan describes the starting point in the new year. "To a certain extent, 'Revolt' describes our frustration of the past years - someone from the outside is constantly coming and saying you have to do this, you have to do that. We don't let ourselves be bent now, we confidently go our own way." The band's newfound maturity also includes their increasing sensitivity to the problems of our society. Instead of the ubiquitous selfishness, the quartet calls for more solidarity and the individual contribution of each person for the good of all. Fittingly, the album cover features a modification of Caspar David Friedrich's world-famous painting "The Wanderer above the Sea of Fog": the German icon raises a red flag to the sky on "Revolt" - a clear call for social togetherness. In 2017, Flash Forward have finally arrived in their own scene and have something to say. Coupled with anthemic choruses and a perfect mix of alternative, indie and punk rock, it is Flash Forward's strongest and most diverse album to date, which is underlined not least by the guest features of 8Kids and To The Rats And Wolves. Produced by Florian Nowak (Itchy, Emil Bulls), "Revolt" is a testament to Flash Forward's maturing process, who have taken over the country's clubs in the past on tours alongside the likes of You Me At Six and Hawthorne Heights.
