After the Berlin rapper had to postpone his tour originally announced for the beginning of the year due to delay of the new album, Fler keeps his word and now announces the catch-up dates. Fler x Jalil's big Epic Tour 2018 kicks off on August 24, 2018 and will make stops in 14 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Except for the concert in Vienna, all purchased tickets remain valid.
With his latest album "Epic", which Berlin rapper Fler self-released with label partner Jalil on June 30, 2017 as a collabo album via Maskulin / Groove Attack, the visionary rapper of the moment once again creates a sensation. After the huge success of "Vibe", which reached #1 in the German album charts, the follow-up album "Epic" also enters at #1 in Germany and Switzerland and #3 in Austria.
Fler's importance for German hip-hop culture cannot be reduced to one hit or one album. Even his first release together with Bushido, the sampler "Carlo Cokxxx Nutten" (CCN) in 2002, was a watershed. The album became the blueprint for German gangsta rap par excellence. Never before has there been such uncompromising, aggressive and ignorant rapping over scratchy and gritty beats as on the now indexed "CCN". Even today, hardly any gangsta rap release gets by without direct or indirect borrowings from the album.
A few years later, at Aggro Berlin, he managed to combine the classic sound of the Berlin underground with productions suitable for the masses, thus flushing it into the mainstream. When Fler parted ways with Aggro Berlin in 2009 and moved to his old mentor Bushido's label, he perfected his sound image with gritty, melancholic string beats.
After his interlude with Bushido's label Ersguterjunge, Fler started his own label and completely reinvented himself with the album "Hinter blauen Augen". The inspiration for sound and lyrics now no longer came from the Berlin ghettos, but Straight Outta Miami Beach. Autotune, thick bass, champagne and Louis Vuitton replaced Carlo Colucci, guns and coke.
"Hinter blauen Augen" (2013) was a hidden masterpiece and remains to this day the most underrated FLER album ever. With the follow-up "Blaues Blut" (2013), Fler then anticipated trap at a time when nobody in Germany actually knew what trap was supposed to be. Today, there is hardly a rapper who can still ignore the subgenre. And his album "Vibe" (2016) is also a masterpiece. A kind of best-of-Fler sound: arrogance and attitude, paired with zeitgeist and highly polished club sound - Lots of bass. Lots of street. Not so much Louis V anymore, but Bottega Veneta. His own interpretation of contemporary trap. The successful album "Epic" picks up right here, further expands the style and raises it to an even higher level.
