On a bare, brightly lit stage, a troupe of sad clowns give their all to get along and kill time. An old piece of music plays on continuous loop - the music doesn't fit, but no one seems to care. They rehearse old gags, get caught up in new ones, forget anything happened, then remember and forget again. They argue and chase each other, fitfully, chaotically, clumsily, then come to rest again and wait for all the hubbub to start all over again.
Carefully unbalanced, oscillating between humor and humorlessness, Forced Entertainment's Out Of Order is the ruin of a play in the ruins of a world. Violence and posturing, pranks and hilarious capers with group acrobatics merge into bickering, exhaustion, hunger, melancholy and silence. The clock is ticking. The music swells again and again. And it all comes to nothing.
In 2016, Forced Entertainment became the first company, after predecessors such as Peter Brook, Heiner Goebbels and Ariane Mnouchkine, to receive the "International Ibsen Award", one of the world's most prestigious and highly endowed theatre prizes.
