Classic meets Electronic Beats concert as part of the Rheingau Music Festival in the HALLE The Rheingau Music Festival is back with this concert for another time after 2015. Where does the journey go today? To Bach and electronic beats! On stage are Francesco Tristano (piano & electronics), David Greilsammer (piano & direction) and the Geneva Camerata.
That classical music is dead, Franceso Tristano claimed in an interview, but on the podium he proves the opposite. Tristano is one of the most idiosyncratic pianists of the younger generation. Baroque music and specially composed electronic music go well together for the Luxembourger, who feels at home in the concert hall as well as in clubs. A piece of music must have polyphony, rhythm and basso continuo in order to interest him, Tristano once explained; he finds this in Bach as well as in the world of electronic beats. Recently, for example, he released a few songs with the Detroit techno legend Derrick May. The fact that he sometimes causes irritation in his audience is just fine with him: "Uncertainty is a great feeling. Personally, I don't want to go to a concert to be assured - I'll stay at home and listen to a recording I already know by heart anyway. The stage stands for freedom and for surprise." Let's look forward to a concert between Bach and Electronica!

The program of the evening:
Johann Sebastian Bach: Piano Concerto in F minor BWV 1056 / Concerto for Two Pianos in C minor BWV 1060
Francesco Tristano: "Hello" / lektron I" / "Elektron II" / "Eastern market" / "Opa!"
John Adams: "Shaker Loops" Text source and more information about this event: http://schlachthof-wiesbaden.de/programmdetails/items/franceso-tristano-david-greilsamer-geneva-camerata.html
