Beethoven cycle in best hands: When two great soloists meet for the first time on the chamber music podium, it always promises an electrifying moment. In 2018, the music world can look forward to just such an event, as Frank Peter Zimmermann and Martin Helmchen make their debut in a new chamber music partnership. They have set their sights high for their first duo project: they will focus on Beethoven's complete violin sonatas - all touchstones and central stars of the sonata repertoire for violin and piano. However, they are both very familiar with Beethoven and have set standards with their interpretations in recent years. In their noble attitude towards the Viennese classic, which nevertheless allows its revolutionary impetus as well as its exciting rough edges to come to the fore, Zimmermann and Helmchen definitely meet on the same wavelength.
