The Apfelweinfest was launched eight years ago and has quickly established itself as a permanent fixture in Frankfurt's cultural calendar, attracting up to 120,000 visitors again this year as the Apfelweinfestival. After the short guest performance at the Hauptwache in 2016, the festival returned to its traditional place at the Roßmarkt last year, where it will be celebrated again in 2018!
The concept of the first festival has been kept true to this year with minor changes and 90% of the stand operators, who were already part of the festival in previous years, will be back again in 2017. Over 20 different press houses will offer many different types of cider at around 30 stands, so that even those visitors who cannot get used to the traditional cider taste can find the right drop for them.
In addition to the traditional Schoppen and trendy mixed drinks or cocktails, there will also be original cider merchandise and of course many delicious foods around the theme of apples and cider. Apple cider sausage, apple cider ham, baguettes topped with apple cider cheese or apple cider ice cream are just some of the culinary highlights.
But there is not only something for the palate. There is also a comprehensive entertainment programme. DJs, dialect groups or comedians will be on stage every evening. In addition, there will be some award ceremonies, such as the Golden Apple (14.08.), endowed with 1000,- € which is awarded to such people who have been particularly committed to the protection of meadow orchards. On 15.08. the Kelterei Heil presents a colourful evening with Bäppi La Belle.
The crowning of the Frankfurt cider queen, the many culinary offers and much more makes a visit to the Roßmarkt, where traditional cider enjoyment combines with the modern skyline to a very special atmosphere, an absolute must! A beautiful tribute to cider and to the cider city of Frankfurt am Main, a festival for the whole family that is positively received by Frankfurt residents and tourists alike.
