In the inaugural event, the focus will be on the question of Western values and Western lifestyles, grounded in the ideas of the American and French Revolutions. These ideas make up our way of life in Europe and are coming under pressure from various sides, such as Islamism, right-wing and left-wing populism, Euroscepticism, elite failures, etc. After an introduction by Clemens Greve, Managing Director of the Frankfurt Civic Foundation, and an impulse lecture by Prof. Dr. Ulrike Ackermann, Director of the John Stuart Mill Institute for Freedom Research e.V. in Heidelberg, Prof. Dr. Harald Müller, political scientist with a focus on peace and conflict research at the Goethe University Frankfurt, and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wertheimer, literary scholar at the University of Tübingen, will discuss the aforementioned topic.
