The Freienfelser Ritterspiele are among the oldest and largest medieval events in Germany. Almost 3,000 knights, musicians, craftsmen, artists and campers will meet on a total area of around 130,000 square metres from 28 April to 1 May 2018.
More than 150 authentic camp sites offer a vivid reflection of medieval life. More than 120 artisans and merchants invite visitors to browse, historic food spreads its fragrance, and a dozen musical groups and minstrels put the Middle Ages to music. Numerous jugglers, acrobats and showmen provide entertainment, fire shows in the evening fascinate young and old and noble knights compete in over 10 tournaments for the favour of the spectators. Children can compete in their own jousting tournament and experience a breathtaking programme on stage. In addition, they can look forward to the traditional children's battle, a straw castle, crossbow shooting and other attractions.
The family flair, the varied program and the fascinating insight into the Middle Ages make the Freienfelser Ritterspiele an unforgettable experience and an integral part of the medieval scene in Germany.
