The Christmas town of Gelnhausen enchants its visitors with atmospheric lighting in the half-timbered streets of the old town, the largest Advent calendar in the region and a huge Advent wreath on the Obermarkt.
On the Obermarkt, in the Langgasse and in the courtyard of the Tourist Information, more than 50 stalls with handicrafts and culinary specialities await the guests. A real feast for the eyes shines at the Obermarktbrunnen: the huge Advent wreath - with a diameter of 14.5 metres one of the largest in Germany. This Advent wreath forms the traditional focal point of the Christmas market.
Another eye-catcher stands directly opposite on Obermarkt: the former citizen's school, which becomes the largest Advent calendar in the region. Every evening one of 24 windows opens. Behind it is a Christmas motif painted by children, enlarged, applied to foil and illuminated.
During the Christmas market, a Christmas angel recites a poem every day.
To relax with hot drinks and culinary specialties, the courtyard of the tourist information invites you again this year.
