Cemetery bells. Sonorous. Somber. Sudden cold white light. Heinz Becker comes home, from the funeral to the kitchen. In his black suit; 5 Callas in his hand: "I forgot to throw them in the grave." Nothing is the way it was. His everyday life - collapsed. And this sadness. Grief-stricken pensiveness. And slowly he begins to ponder, to reflect, to process. For more than 30 years, Gerd Dudenhöffer has been playing his real-satirical, grotesque-authentic artificial figure Heinz Becker as a personified caricature of the narrow-minded, universal person like you and me, the Otto Normalverbraucher, whom he exposes pointedly, with perfect timing, sparingly placed facial expressions, without any political correctness, always, of course, with heartfelt, often unintentional wit. DOD - the 18th programme, theatrical "cabaret noir", stringently staged, black and white, light and dark, skilfully maintains the balance between tragedy and comedy. Tragicomic, that is. Because Heinz is Heinz. Sure as death.
