The new album "Götz Alsmann . in Rome", produced in the millennial city, concludes the travel trilogy that has taken the Alsmann Band to the historic and crucial places for the history of light music in recent years.
Now, finally, Götz Alsmann and his sworn-in musician friends are going on tour with their very individual versions of everlasting Italian evergreens.
The sound of the group, known from countless recordings and literally thousands of concerts, settled in the area of tension between swing, exotica and Latin-American rhythms, enters into a fruitful union with the canzone classics from Fred Buscaglione to Adriano Celentano, from Renato Carosone to Marino Marini and from Domenico Modugno to Umberto Bindi.
Götz Alsmann's arrangements open up a new perspective on these glorious melodies. They show how jazz-like, even decades ago, much of what we nowadays almost automatically associate with the Italian Schlager of the 50s and 60s was.
