With their prepared grand piano, around which poles, straps, cables, microphones and electromechanical hammers are attached, the Grandbrothers Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel create exciting, contemporary piano music: influenced by the experimental greats of the genre, to name only John Cage and Steve Reich, as well as by new, electronic music. A technically as well as visually astonishing interplay of inside and outside is created when Vogel, from the computer, additionally adds effects and samples the sounds of Sarp on the grand piano, on which the hammers strike the strings, the wooden body and the mechanics contained within it in additional rhythms. As complicated as it may sound, this great mix of analog and digital promises an ambitious yet relaxed listening experience flowing in cool rhythmic harmonies.
