(ffm) The horticultural engineer Ingo Bohl will lead a guided tour on Sunday, 25. July, at 11 a.m. from the Wesel shipyard to the harbor park and explains the special features of each green space, interesting details about its past and the circumstances that led to its conversion.

For about 15 years, the former harbor area from the raftsman's bridge has been transformed into a green Main riverfront promenade. Once transshipment points for bulk goods and scrap metal, the Wesel shipyard, the Ruhrort shipyard and the harbour park offer a fascinating sequence of spaces with a peculiar, post-industrial character: old, listed loading cranes, a banana wagon, the tracks of the harbour railway, natural stone bastions and sycamore groves characterise the townscape along the river. With its mix of skate park, sports fields, fitness course, playgrounds and wide sunbathing and picnic areas, Hafenpark is an attraction for people of all ages.

The guided tour is an event organized by the Parks Department as part of the GartenRheinMain annual program. The meeting point is on the northern Main riverbank promenade below the rafter bridge (below the street "Schöne Aussicht"). The free guided tour lasts about two hours.

Due to the corona pandemic, prior registration by e-mail to ingo.bohl@gmx.de is required. Attendance is limited to ten people. The wearing of a mouth-nose covering is mandatory.
